For more than 50 years, this building was home to Joshua L. Chamberlain. Just like the man himself, the house went through incredible transformations during its life, gaining fame and witnessing major historic events. In 1983, Pejepscot History Center (then Pejepscot Historical Society) purchased the house, saving it from demolition. Today, the house is operated as a historic house museum, telling the story of Chamberlain, his family, and the building itself, set within the context of historical state and national events. We offer guided tours from Memorial Day weekend through October, and private tours year round. (Curated content from pejepscothistorical.org)
