Lake Elmore and Elmore Mountain, which rises almost from the lake’s shore, are prominent features of the town. Lake Elmore is 219 acres, and lies northwest of the village and empties into the Lamoille River through Pond Brook. Elmore Mountain is in the "Worcester Range" and its timber is mostly hardwood. Mountain View Country Club image
(Range: 7 miles)
Golf was first played in 1898 on a cow-pasture course laid out by club members. The trees have grown larger and the forests have tightened up the fairways, but little else has changed. Only minor rerouting has occurred. Though little actual evidence exists today, the cows remained active on the course until well into the 1960s. The hilly 9-hole course is a links style layout with a rating/slope from the middle tees of 67.9/112 for men and 71.5/116 for women. From the Blue Tees the course measures 2927 yards. The par 35 layout was featured in Travel + Leisure Golf.  (Curated content from mvccvt.com)

Bingham Falls image
(Range: 15 miles)
Part of Smuggler's Notch State Park, Bingham Falls has quickly become one of the most popular waterfall hikes in Vermont due to its easy access, impressive geology, and photographic nature. The hike itself is only about a quarter-mile down to the falls, but it is steeper at the bottom and often can be wet and slippery, so proper hiking shoes with good tread are highly recommended. Certain sections of trail traverse close to the edge of the gorge. (Curated content from www.stowelandtrust.org)
